American Airlines Cargo has joined the CargoWise Carrier Connectivity Program, enabling freight forwarders to plan, book, confirm and manage shipments with the airline in real time through CargoWise, the logistics execution platform developed by WiseTech Global. The direct data integration allows users to access schedules, rates, capacity and bookings, as well as make changes to digital bookings without leaving the platform.

American Airlines Cargo joins a growing group of international air freight carriers that have directly integrated with CargoWise as part of efforts to improve efficiency and accuracy across the supply chain by replacing manual intervention with straight through processing.

American Airlines Cargo moves cargo daily between major cities across the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia. The airline handles a range of shipments, including pharmaceuticals, perishables and ecommerce, and offers temperature-controlled capabilities in more than 180 markets across its domestic and international network.

The direct connection gives CargoWise customers, including 23 of the 25 largest global freight forwarders, access to American Airlines Cargo’s schedules, rates, capacity and booking functions while allowing them to modify digital bookings from within the platform.

Roger Samways, Vice President Commercial for American Airlines Cargo, said the integration brings the airline’s global network directly into customers’ workflows, making it easier to access capacity and do business with the carrier worldwide. He added that the airline operates more than 180 international widebody flights daily during the peak summer season.

Jorre Cobelens, Vice President – Logistics Data, AI and Connectivity at WiseTech Global, said North America is the world’s second-largest air freight market, making it an important region for CargoWise customers. He said American Airlines Cargo is helping reduce manual processes as the supply chain moves towards greater efficiency, accuracy and agility through straight through processing.

Cobelens added that the direct data connection supports the International Air Transport Association ONE Record standard for data sharing and enables freight forwarders using CargoWise to research, book and manage shipments, modify bookings and digitally transmit the Master Air Waybill through to final execution.
