LG Electronics Business Solutions Company has signed a long-term strategic collaboration agreement with Urban-Air Port (UAP).

"UAP has collaborated with LG since 2022 when LG supplied digital infrastructure for the ground-breaking Coventry launch of its AirOne vertiport," says an official release from UAP. "The signing sets in place a strategic, long-term commitment to work together to develop and serve the market for and operation of safe, reliable and efficient advanced air mobility (AAM) systems globally using UAP and LG solutions cutting-edge technologies."

The first step in the relationship is the development of a world-first, LG-enabled Urban Air Port AirOne Next Gen - a multi-stacked hangar vertiport reference design, the release added. "In the longer term, LG and UAP intend to develop a set of products, designs and services to further wide scale adoption globally. The two firms’ technical and research divisions will collaborate on use cases and specifications for multiple applications."

Ricky Sandhu, Founder & Executive Chairman, Urban-Air Port says: "“This is a hugely exciting moment in the evolution of our technology. By incorporating LG’s immense technical expertise and product portfolio, we can jointly offer the most advanced and seamlessly integrated vertiport infrastructure. With LG’s focus on quality and efficiency, combined with our focus on safety and innovation, we are very excited about revealing our fully coordinated, UAP & LG reference design vertiport for order on spec. This industry needs to scale and to do that, consolidation across multi levels will be required – this simplification for vertiports is one more positive step towards bringing this technology to market.”

Seamus Walsh, Enterprise Manager, Energy, Industry, Mobility, Europe, LG Electronics Business Solutions adds: "The urban air mobility market is only in its infancy but with so much investment going into developing the vehicles, there remains a huge opportunity to design, create, and deploy the multi-faceted infrastructure that’s required to enable them. Urban-Air Port is a true leader in that space, and with our expertise in developing smart solutions for retail, transportation and digital experiences, we see huge potential for the future in this long-term collaboration.”

UAP is backed by international partners including Supernal, a part of Hyundai Motor Group and Directors of M7 Real Estate, part of Oxford Properties, the release added.
