Swissport Frankfurt centre gets IATA CEIV Pharma recertification
Warehouse still the most modern air cargo centre & spans over 17,000 sq.m.
Swissport's air cargo centre at Frankfurt Airport has again been CEIV Pharma certified by IATA.
The CEIV Pharma certification underscores Swissport's rigorous adherence to the quality and security standards essential for handling sensitive pharmaceuticals, says an official release.
"The recertification by IATA highlights our commitment to providing safe, efficient and reliable pharmaceutical logistics solutions for our global customers,” says Andreas Behnke, Head, Cargo Services for Germany and Austria, Frankfurt Airport, Swissport. “Our dedication to Frankfurt Airport translates to advantages for our airline customers, logistics partners and the airport itself. This reinforces Frankfurt's position as a crucial hub for reliable temperature-controlled supply chains.”
Swissport opened its cargo facility in November 2020 and supported critical pharma logistics during the pandemic from day one, the release added. "The warehouse is still the most modern air cargo centre at the airport and spans over 17,000 sq.m. It includes a state-of-the-art Swissport Pharma Centre with a 1,560-sq.m. dedicated area for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments of which 1,300 sq.m. are allocated for products requiring 15°C to 25°C storage, and 260 sq.m. for those needing 2°C to 8°C conditions."
Swissport has invested heavily in digitalisation and modern equipment to streamline operations and to increase efficiency across the global logistics chain, the release added. "The warehouse located in the CargoCity South area has direct tarmac access and is equipped with advanced handling technology, facilitating seamless air cargo operations. The automated material handling system (MHS) can store and retrieve up to 115 main deck unit load devices (ULDs)."
Dirk Goovaerts, Global Cargo Chair and CEO, CEMEAI region, Swissport says: "As a global expert in cargo operations, Swissport continues to drive the digitalisation of its air cargo business to handle air cargo even more efficiently and intelligently. The Swissport mobile devices, fully interfaced weighing system, AI-based support tools, cargo kiosks, door management systems, slot booking and Bluetooth ULD tracking are examples of innovations that are in operation, providing Swissport with the ability to process air freight competitively."
In addition to its advanced pharmaceutical handling capabilities, Swissport has recently expanded its services to include freight forwarder handling in Frankfurt. The new service compliments Swissport’s existing portfolio of air cargo services for airlines and aligns with the company's holistic approach to serving the entire logistics community, the release added.
