July 12, 2018: Vienna Airport has handled 2,494,749 passengers in the month of June this year. As a result, it reports 7.9 percent rise in passenger traffic compared to the prior-year month, informs Flughafen Wien Group, a developer, builder and operator of Vienna Airport.

The number of local passengers was up by 8.5 percent, whereas transfer passenger volume climbed by 6.7 percent. The highest single-day total ever recorded in the history of Vienna Airport took place on June 29, 2018 with 97,845 passengers (previous record: 92,605 passengers on April 27, 2018).

The number of flight movements in June 2018 also increased by 5.5 percent in a year-on-year comparison.

The total number of passengers at Vienna Airport flying to destinations in Eastern Europe was up 5.2 percent in June 2018, and passenger traffic to Western Europe rose by 5.7 percent. In June 2018, the number of passengers travelling to the Far East strongly increased by 41.9 percent from the prior-year month, and passenger volume to Middle Eastern destinations climbed by 5.7 percent. The number of passengers travelling to North America rose by 3.6 percent, and passenger traffic to Africa showed a clearly positive development, rising by 37.8 percent year-on-year.

Cargo volume at Vienna Airport showed a rise of 2.7 percent from the comparable level of June 2017.
