February 12, 2018: Turkey’s national flag carrier, Turkish Airlines witnessed 34 percent surge in air cargo volumes in January, compared to the same period last year.

It handled over 86,000 tonnes of cargo, compared to 64,500 tonnes during the same period in 2017.

According to the airline, the key contributors to the increase in the cargo/mail volume was from the Middle East (45 percent), Domestic Lines (44 percent) and Europe (39 percent).

It also witnessed highest ever load factor in January, up by 79.8 percent. The total number of passengers touched 5.7 million, up by 37 percent.

Excluding international-to-international transfer passengers, the number of international passengers went up by 45 percent.
