Responding to concerns about the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), IATA has announced that it has taken the decision to postpone its upcoming 14th World Cargo Symposium (WCS) in Istanbul, Turkey. While there have been no cases of coronavirus recorded in Turkey as yet, the decision of postponement has been made as part of a safety measure by the association.

Since the first outbreak of COVID-19 in mainland China, IATA has been monitoring the situation in Istanbul closely, working daily with local and international authorities. The association has been following the WHO’s guidelines. However, there has been an increase in the number of participant cancelations over the past few days for reasons including company travel bans and senior delegates needing to stay close to base during the crisis; therefore, the association feelt the event be best postponed.

Regretting the postponement, IATA has announced that it will provide further information on the situations related to delegate, sponsor and exhibitor and inform on actions that need to be taken.
