Pharma.Aero to establish global pharma trade lanes

November 13, 2017: With an aim to achieve a reliable end-to-end air transport for the pharmaceutical industry, Pharma.Aero has evolved a plan to establish global pharmaceutical trade lanes.

According to sources, Pharma.Aero that currently consists of 20 members—of which three are top pharmaceutical shippers and rest seven are key airports have decided to come together to develop a reliable end-to-end air transport for pharmaceutical cargo. It includes developing global pharmaceutical trade lanes, implement best practices, and share market knowledge and expertise across five different projects.

Nathan De Valck, chairman of Pharma.Aero said: “After achieving our initial objective of expanding our membership base, our focus is now on creating topical projects for its members comprising global air cargo stakeholders and pharmaceuticals shippers.

“The project group will work with pharmaceutical shippers to validate and endorse the existing IATA CEIV Pharma checklist and audit methodology, resulting in a shipper-endorsed audit format, reducing audit workload and streamlining the audit process by the shippers,” said Valck.

Jimmy Nares, Section Chief, Aviation Marketing at Miami International Airport said: “The project group will come up with a framework for airports and their stakeholders to consider when reviewing airside transport solutions. It will also review all options and solutions that exist to avoid the exposure of pharmaceutical shipments to extreme temperatures while transported on tarmac.”
