March 14, 2018: In an attempt to offer speed and reliability to its partners, Lufthansa Cargo recently incorporated two new Application Program Interfaces (APIs) — GetCapacity and GetRates, with an aim to simplify system-to-system communication.

The two APIs will offer Lufthansa Cargo’s partners with direct access to capacity and rate data, without having to manually upload it. Additionally, the two APIs offer real-time data exchange on capacity, which will make information on flight utilisation available beyond office hours. It’s a service that will not only speed up the exchange of information, but also extensively simplify and minimises errors.

“We are constantly expanding the digital standardised interfaces for our customers, in order to simplify system-to-system communication,” said Boris Hueske, head of digital transformation, Lufthansa Cargo.

“The increasing number of users proves the widespread market acceptance for GetCapacity and GetRates. For Lufthansa Cargo, it’s another step to evolve as digital enterprise,” Hueske.

GetCapacity and GetRates complement the already established ‘Tracking’ and ‘GetRoutes’ APIs. Unlike its predecessors, the new APIs will transmit data worthy of protection, and will be made available to parties on request.

With the expansion of Web Services, Lufthansa Cargo is further expanding its existing digital product range, which will not only improve connectivity for its customers, but also define new digital standards for the entire air freight industry. In the future, plans to introduce additional intelligent web services for booking is in the pipeline.
