Leipzig / Halle Airport, on April 16, saw a landing of a first plane carrying 135 harvest workers from the EU member state Romania. The chartered Airbus A319 of the airline Euro Wings took off from Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj for central Germany.
After landing, the passengers completed a compulsory health check with temperature measurement. Following the baggage claim area, passengers travel by bus on to the seasonal jobs in Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony.
Leipzig / Halle Airport supported the authorities to ensure compliance with the currently applicable standards of hygiene. There were, for example, signs with behavioural clues in Romanian and distance markers.
