April 04, 2018: IAG Cargo has started a new direct flight service between Madrid (MAD) and San Francisco (SFO), from April 1 this year, making it the only carrier to offer a direct route between the two cities.

The carrier will deploy an A330-200, operated by Iberia, on the route. The aircraft will service the route three times per week offering capacity of up to 14 tonnes per flight.

The carrier anticipates that the San Francisco route will carry products such as perishables, fruit and vegetables, machinery parts, chemicals and transport equipment.

IAG Cargo is the single business created following the merger of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo in April 2011. Following the integration of additional airlines and operations into the business, including Aer Lingus, Vueling, bmi and LEVEL, IAG Cargo now covers a network of over 350 destinations.
