November 16, 2017: The cargo handling growth story of Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (HACTL) continues with a three-fold jump in the freight handled during the first week of November.

Setting a hat trick record in the first week of November, HACTL’s giant SuperTerminal-1 handled 31,280 tonnes of exports, surpassing its previous weekly record of 30,593 tonnes in November 2016.

Interestingly, during the same week, its total cargo of 42,471 tonnes handled through the terminal smashed its previous weekly record of 41,926 tonnes. On the other hand, on a single day, it handled a staggering 102 freighters—edging past its previous best of 101 freighters handled in a day, recorded last year.

HACTL Chief Executive Mark Whitehead said: “2016 was a year of records for HACTL, largely fuelled by the boom in Q4 due to the collapse of Hanjin. Although have had no such extraordinary events to boost our volumes in 2017, yet our 100 client carriers have showcased a strong performance and helped us to set new records.”

“Our work on developing e-commerce export traffic via Hong Kong is clearly playing a part in the overall picture, and we are delighted to be able to contribute to our airline customers’ continuing success,” he said.
