March 5, 2018: With an aim to capitalise on the growing demand for flights between the UAE and Azerbaijan, Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, recently launched thrice-a-week scheduled flight services between Abu Dhabi and Baku.

A 136-seat Airbus 320 will fly the route, which has 16 seats in the business class and 120 in the economy Class.

Peter Baumgartner, chief executive officer of Etihad Airways said: “We are quite excited to launch scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Baku, the only scheduled service linking the two capitals. There is a strong demand from both markets for a direct, full-service operation on the route, and we have responded to this increasing customer requirement. New flights will further boost traffic from the UAE and strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations.”

“The visa waiver programme introduced for UAE nationals by Azerbaijan in 2015 has greatly stimulated interest in the country, resulting in a surge of visitors since its implementation,” said Baumgartner.

Etihad Airways and Azerbaijan Airlines https://gigglesgobblesandgulps.com/buy-avodart-online/ recently entered into a codeshare partnership. As per the agreement, Etihad Airbus 320 will bear 'J2' code of the Azerbaijan Airlines place on it. Further, Azerbaijan Airlines guests will be able to book codeshare flights to and from Abu Dhabi and connect onto Etihad Airways’ extensive global network.

Jahangir Asgarov, President of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC said: “Azerbaijan Airlines and Etihad Airways are long-standing partners in the civil aviation sector. The launch of joint flights between our two airlines will allow Azerbaijani citizens to further expand their global reach, attracting increased numbers of tourists and create more opportunities for business travellers.”

Recently, Etihad Airways appointed Saeed Mohammad Ahmed as its country manager in Azerbaijan.

A UAE national, Ahmed is an expert in the aviation industry, who had held several key roles with the airline as business development manager in Chicago.

In his new role, Ahmed will be responsible for the strategic and commercial success of the new route, and develop business relationships with key Azerbaijani corporations and the travel industry.
