February 7, 2018: With an aim to expand its footprint in the Europe, Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates recently launched its new twice-weekly scheduled freighter services to Maastricht using Boeing 777 freighter.

Emirates SkyCargo has added Maastricht to its global freighter network of over 40 cities, which is expected to evolve as the second freighter destination in the Netherlands after Amsterdam.

According to Emirates SkyCargo, it will initially operate two freighter flights every week to Maastricht on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The twice-weekly service will be operated by the Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 777 freighter aircraft, which has a cargo capacity of 100 tonnes. The freighter is also equipped to transport large and outsized cargo through its wide main deck cargo doors.

By the end of March, Emirates SkyCargo would be increasing its freighter frequency to Maastricht to seven weekly flights. The flights to Maastricht is expected to supplement the cargo capacity offered on the freighter and passenger aircraft to Amsterdam, as well as provide air cargo connectivity to the neighbouring regions in Belgium and Germany.

General, e-commerce and pharmaceutical cargos are expected to be moved in and out of Maastricht.

Emirates SkyCargo is the world’s largest global airline cargo operator, which offers over 265 aircraft, including 14 freighters, 13 Boeing 777-Fs and one Boeing 747-F.

In Europe, Emirates SkyCargo operates to over 40 destinations connecting international hubs, and regional cities to the rest of the world.

In Dubai, Emirates SkyCentral DWC is its dedicated terminal to handle cargo from freighter aircraft. It has 13 dedicated aircraft parking bays located in front of the terminal, which allows quick cargo positioning from terminal to the aircraft, and quick cargo retrieval from the aircraft to the terminal, enabling quicker delivery to customers. It also has a dedicated cool chain facilities with an earmarked storage space admeasuring 15,000 square metres for temperature sensitive cargo.
