Kuehne+Nagel has opened a new depot in Turin, Italy, the latest development in its European groupage network to better address customer needs.

Groupage is a service that allows customers to book road freight services for shipments of up to 6 pallets or 2.4 loading meters, which are then grouped with other consignments to optimise truck capacity.

The Turin depot is important to enhance the connectivity between Italy and France, and by extension also the Iberian countries. Turin is well-connected to the economically important regions of Liguria, Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta. The new depot facilitates line haul optimisation and reduces lead times from these areas to France and Western Europe as well as to the Iberian countries.

Earlier this year Kuehne+Nagel also opened new cross-docks in Poland and Romania.

A future-proof groupage setup requires the right network developments in the right place at the right time. As part of the Roadmap 2026, the ambition is to offer the best Kuehne+Nagel Experience. Investing in a more robust pan-European groupage network is needed to get there, so we can keep offering more competitive lead times. At the same time, we stay flexible with our asset-light setup to handle fluctuating volumes viably,” Nicholas Minde, regional head of road logistics, Europe comments.
