Swissport has appointed Ajay Barolia as Executive Vice President Cargo for North America, placing him at the helm of the company’s regional air cargo business. Barolia will report directly to Swissport North America CEO Nelson Camacho. Since joining Swissport in June 2024 as Senior Vice President North America, he has contributed significantly to the organization’s transformation journey. His elevation underscores Swissport’s strategic focus on strengthening its leadership team to drive operational efficiency and customer satisfaction in the North American market.

With more than 30 years of experience in the aviation and cargo industry, Barolia is widely recognized for his expertise in global cargo standards, operational management, and commitment to innovation. His career spans logistics optimization, digital transformation, and advancing quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSE) standards—areas seen as critical to positioning Swissport at the forefront of next-generation cargo handling.

Supporting him on the commercial side is Peter Weir, Senior Vice President Commercial – Cargo NOAM, along with a regional team of four Vice Presidents covering the East, West, Express, and Canada. Collectively, the team oversees sales, operations, and QHSE functions, ensuring that Swissport continues to deliver tailored solutions to its airline and freight forwarding partners.

“I’m privileged to lead Swissport Cargo and work alongside a world-class team driven by professionalism, innovation, and a shared dedication to sustainable growth. Our priority over the next 12 months will be to expand our footprint through joint ventures and strategic acquisitions, while investing in CAPEX to modernize and automate our key gateways,” said Ajay Barolia.

Looking further ahead, Barolia has emphasized modernization, sustainability, and resilience as his leadership pillars. “In the long term, I envision Swissport becoming synonymous with digital, green, and resilient cargo operations, leveraging technology and automation to deliver unmatched reliability for our airline customers and freight partners,” he added.

With this appointment, Swissport reaffirms its commitment to building a robust leadership structure in key markets and continuing to raise performance benchmarks across its cargo operations worldwide.
