Scan Global Logistics expands into Egypt to strengthen regional growth and connectivity
SGL opens new Cairo head office, marking its entry into Egypt’s fast-growing logistics market and regional network.

Scan Global Logistics (SGL), a leading provider of global logistics services, has expanded its operations into Egypt as part of its ongoing global growth strategy. The move strengthens the company’s foothold in one of the region’s most strategic markets and enhances its presence across the MENAT region (Middle East, North Africa, Turkey).
The new head office is located at the City Stars Complex in Cairo, with additional offices planned to open within the next 6 to 12 months. SGL is already present in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Türkiye, and the latest expansion further supports its aim to build a strong, connected network across the region.
Global CEO Allan Melgaard said the expansion reinforces SGL’s vision for growth across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey. “We are excited to strengthen our presence and foothold in the MENAT region by expanding into Egypt. With a clear vision for growth, we are well-positioned to lead the logistics sector in the region, offering unparalleled services and innovative solutions to serve our customers,” he stated.
Egypt’s logistics and warehousing market was valued at EGP 110 billion($2.3 billion) in 2023, with strong growth projected through 2029. The country’s steady economic development, supported by government-led initiatives in infrastructure, regulatory reforms, and trade facilitation, aims to position Egypt as a major international logistics and trade hub making it an ideal location for SGL’s regional expansion.
Situated at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, and home to the Suez Canal, Egypt plays a vital role as a logistics gateway between East and West. It also holds strategic importance for intra-continental trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The new operations in Egypt will be led by General Manager Ahmed Habib, who has over 20 years of experience in the logistics industry, including roles at Damco, Maersk, and FedEx. He will head a team of experienced professionals offering in-house customs clearance and a full range of logistics services, including ocean, air, and road freight, project cargo management, and warehousing and supply chain solutions.
“Establishing direct operations in Egypt allows us to maintain full control over local operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality service. Our team is committed to providing world-class solutions to local and global customers, leveraging our extensive network to streamline supply chains and accelerate business growth in Egypt and beyond,” said Habib.
