(L-R): Simon Schley, Marie Seco-Köppen, Laura Rodriguez, Megha PalkarShanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal (PACTL) and its subsidiary, PACTL WEST, have completed the Cargo iQ audit process, becoming the first air cargo terminal operator in mainland China to achieve the certification.
Supported by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Cargo iQ is an industry initiative that establishes common quality standards and performance measurement frameworks across the air cargo supply chain. It focuses on defining and tracking key shipment milestones to improve process transparency, data quality and operational performance.
The certification recognises the implementation of Cargo iQ quality standards across ground handling operations at both facilities. It also reflects PACTL's efforts to improve shipment visibility, strengthen performance measurement, and enhance service quality through data-driven management.
PACTL’s focus on operational quality is underpinned by continued investment in digitalisation and innovation. In collaboration with IATA, the company has incorporated Cargo iQ requirements into its operational workflows and developed a dedicated database for daily data analysis and performance tracking.
These initiatives complement its broader digitalisation efforts, including Easy Cargo 2.0, the Hermes 5 upgrade and ONE Record pilot projects, aimed at advancing data connectivity, information exchange and digital cargo handling processes.
Carsten Hernig, Deputy General Manager of PACTL, said, “Achieving Cargo iQ certification reflects our commitment to operational quality through consistent processes, data-driven management and continuous improvement. “It represents the collective efforts of our colleagues at PACTL and PACTL WEST and provides a foundation for further strengthening operational transparency and service quality for our airline customers and logistics partners.”
Cargo iQ Executive Director Marie Seco-Köppen congratulated PACTL on its swift and rigorous implementation, highlighting the achievement as a reflection of strong leadership and its commitment to quality standards and operational excellence in ground handling. She also emphasised PACTL’s active participation in the initiative, noting that industry collaboration supports continuous improvement and ensures regional perspectives are incorporated into the development of global standards.
The certification was witnessed by Marie Seco-Köppen, Cargo iQ’s Executive Director; Simon Schley, Senior Business Process Analyst, PACTL; Laura Rodriguez, Senior Manager, Member Implementation & Quality, Cargo iQ; and Megha Palkar, Manager, Member Operations, Cargo iQ at IATA.
PACTL plans to further enhance its quality management framework through continued performance monitoring, digital innovation and industry collaboration, driving improvements in its cargo handling operations.
