Hellmann launches own operations in Colombia, enhancing logistics reach across Latin America and the wider Americas region.
In a significant move to bolster its presence in Latin America, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has launched a fully-owned subsidiary in Colombia. This expansion marks a strategic milestone in the company’s continued commitment to growing its operations across the Americas.
For nearly three decades, Hellmann has operated in Colombia through local partners, including its recent acquisition of perishables logistics provider HPL Apollo and its Colombian unit. Building on this foundation, the new subsidiary will offer comprehensive end-to-end logistics services, including airfreight, seafreight, customs brokerage, and contract logistics.
According to Jens Drewes, CEO of Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, “Establishing a fully integrated operation in Colombia is a key step in our global expansion strategy. The Americas is a crucial region, and this development enhances our ability to serve customers across both North and South America.”
Peter Huwel, Regional CEO Americas, added, “After a successful seven-year collaboration with our local partner ABC Cargo Logistics S.A.S., it was the right time to deepen our roots. With our own operations, we can now deliver the integrated logistics solutions our clients expect while scaling up across the region.”
The new Colombian entity is positioned as a strategic logistics hub for inbound and outbound flows, connecting Colombia with key regional and global trade lanes through the extensive Hellmann network. This development also reinforces Hellmann’s push to connect markets through efficient, sustainable, and innovative logistics services.
The move not only strengthens Hellmann’s regional footprint but also aligns with its broader ambition to become a dominant player across the Americas by linking supply chains from the U.S. to South America through robust infrastructure and expertise.
