Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has recognised the efforts of its terminal tenants in reducing carbon emissions at the latest Green Terminal Pact (GTP) Awards Ceremony.

The GTP, launched in 2024, is the first sustainability-driven tenant engagement programme within the Hong Kong International Airport community. It features a Performance Reward Scheme that encourages tenants to reduce energy consumption, minimise waste, and enhance recycling efforts.

After a year of committed efforts, four tenants earned the prestigious "Excellent" grade. Three tenants were awarded "Good" status, while eight others received "Satisfactory" ratings. In recognition of their achievements, Hactl awarded the recipients vouchers to purchase eco-friendly products from local social enterprises.

Wilson Kwong, Chief Executive of Hactl, expressed his appreciation for the tenants' dedication. "It’s inspiring to witness the collective commitment to sustainability. One tenant notably reduced its electricity consumption by over 20% in the latter half of 2024, while three others achieved double-digit reductions."

The GTP Awards highlight Hactl's continued push for greener operations and collaboration across the terminal community. The company remains committed to fostering sustainability through future initiatives, reinforcing the shared goal of reducing environmental impact.

Hactl's broader sustainability strategy also involves supporting the airport's carbon neutrality goals, reducing emissions through energy-efficient technologies, and minimising waste. The company has actively invested in renewable energy sources, enhanced operational efficiencies, and introduced waste management initiatives across its facilities.

Furthermore, tenants have been encouraged to explore innovative ways to reduce their environmental footprint. Collaborative workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and progress assessments have helped build a robust green culture within the terminal.

As Hactl looks to the future, it plans to build on the GTP programme’s success by further engaging tenants in innovative environmental projects. This aligns with Hong Kong's broader commitment to achieving carbon neutrality and promoting sustainable business practices.

These accomplishments highlight the importance of collective action and responsible operations in tackling climate change.
