FedEx Express Swiss Post opens Gossau facility to boost logistics
The new facility boosts the company’s Eastern Switzerland presence and capacity to serve growing e-commerce demand.

FedEx Express Swiss Post, the joint venture between FedEx Express and Swiss Post, has inaugurated its new facility in Gossau in the canton of St. Gallen, following roughly a year of construction. The state-of-the-art location underscores the company’s continued commitment to investing in Swiss logistics infrastructure, coming after the launch of its new station in Dällikon (ZH) in autumn 2023, according to an official release from FedEx.
The new site strengthens the company’s presence in Eastern Switzerland and enhances its capacity to meet growing demand, particularly in the e-commerce sector. It consolidates the operational and administrative activities previously spread across two locations in Wängi and Münchwilen. Approximately 35 employees and around ten couriers from partner companies now benefit from a modern and efficient working environment on a 14,500-square-metre plot. The facility includes a warehouse of over 3,600 square metres and approximately 400 square metres of office space.
“Supporting our customers’ growth and delivering an outstanding service experience is at the heart of what we do,” says Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Benelux at FedEx. “The new facility is designed to meet the increasing demands of customers for modern transport services.”
The facility features three truck loading bays and 40 van docks, purpose-built to streamline regional pickup and delivery operations. Its sorting capacity exceeds that of the previous setup by more than 30 percent, enabling faster and more efficient handling of customer shipments.
Sustainability was a key consideration in the planning and construction of the new facility. The roofs of the site are equipped with a photovoltaic system covering around 3,400 square metres, which delivers a nominal output of 730.8 kW/h. Charging infrastructure for electric vans was installed inside the warehouse, and during construction, some of the excavated material was recycled and reused in the building’s foundation, the release added.
Ron Willemsen, Managing Director Ground Operations Benelux, Switzerland & Austria at FedEx says: “I am delighted that our employees have a modern workplace at the new location. The team works with great dedication every day to ensure that our customers in Eastern Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein have the best conditions for their imports and exports and can take advantage of growth opportunities.”
FedEx Express Swiss Post offers a wide range of time-definite transportation services, including overnight delivery to the U.S., shipping to over 50,000 postal codes across Europe, and door-to-door delivery within Switzerland.
