Air China Cargo visits Prestwick to strengthen export ties
Prestwick Airport showcased its cargo strengths and hosted talks with whisky, seafood and freight leaders during the visit.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) has hosted a senior delegation from Air China Cargo for a three-day visit aimed at deepening collaboration and supporting Scotland’s export growth. The visit focused on giving the airline direct exposure to high-value industries such as whisky and seafood, helping align cargo operations more closely with exporters’ needs.
Ian Forgie, Chief Executive Officer of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, said the engagement underscored the airport’s role as a vital gateway for the UK’s exports. “Prestwick Airport serves as a gateway for the UK’s exports, and this visit marks an important step in strengthening the links between our airline partners and the businesses that rely on them,” he said. “By bringing industry leaders together, we are helping to ensure that our export operations are designed with their priorities at the heart.”
During the visit, the delegation took part in discussions, networking sessions, and tours with whisky, aquaculture, and freight forwarding stakeholders. The programme also highlighted Prestwick’s capabilities as a freight hub, including its seamless connectivity, handling expertise, and in-house services ranging from cargo handling to aircraft fuelling.
The airport reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Scotland’s economy by working closely with airline partners and local industries to create new opportunities in air cargo. Following this visit, Prestwick will host another senior delegation in October, this time from China Southern Air Logistics.
