February 8, 2018: In order to bolster its plans to roll out the latest version of Hermes 5 (H5), a pioneering digital solution for airlines and air cargo handlers, Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT), recently roped in Alexis Labonne as chief technology officer. He succeeded Oded Lavee.

Labonne has two decades of experience in the technology sector with expertise in software development and architecture. He was earlier employed with Hitachi Consulting as architect and CTO, where he handled security, customs, education and government projects.

He has held several key positions as chief architect/CTO and enterprise architect for number of companies, including Hitachi Consulting, BT, GSK, UK Council, Pfizer and KPMG. He will head the HLT team of air cargo technical experts, who are currently following a digital roadmap to use cloud services, IoT, AI and blockchain technologies.

Hermes, a pioneer in developing digital solutions for airlines and air cargo handlers since 2002, is expected to launch H5 this year.

H5 is the latest version of a suite of applications, which include HERMES CMS, Hermes HMS and HBI (HERMES Business Intelligence). HERMES CMS is equipped to manage the overall import, export, messaging, service monitoring and accounting processes for traditional cargo ground handling agents.

Similarly, HERMES HMS is outfitted to steer all inbound, outbound, messaging, SLA and accounting processes for airline hubs or transit shed operators. Likewise, HBI is a comprehensive big data analytical tool, enabling informed management and operational decisions.

According to the company, a European handling agent is its first customers to deploy the cutting-edge version of H5.

“We have invested considerably to advance our technological infrastructure and functionality,” said Yuval Baruch, chief executive officer of Hermes Logistics Technologies.

“H5 version is a proof of our innovation-focused approach towards the cargo industry, aimed at benefitting our customers from the best cargo management system (CMS) and hub management system (HMS) across the world,” said Baruch.

“Alexis brings with him extensive experience to support Hermes and strengthen our technical capabilities,” he said.

“I thank Oded for his contributions toward improving the Hermes system, internal processes and the recent version that will be the base for our future,” adds Baruch.

“I am keen on dynamic engineering patterns and practices to foster innovation and reduce productivity drag. My technical experience helps me to be responsive to market demands, as well adopt to the changing technology trends,” said Labonne.
