Jürgen Westermeier to Lead Airbus in India and South Asia
He will oversee sales, regional expansion, and drive Airbus’ ‘Make in India’ push across all business divisions.

Airbus has named Jürgen Westermeier as its new President and Managing Director for India and South Asia, effective 1 September 2025. He will take over from Rémi Maillard, who moves on to become Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology at Airbus.
Jürgen will lead Airbus’ operations in the region across Commercial Aircraft, Defence and Space, and Helicopters. His role includes overseeing aircraft sales and expanding Airbus’ presence in India and South Asia through services, engineering, digital, innovation, and training. He will also support Airbus’ commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative by aligning company campaigns with this vision.
Currently serving as Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer at Airbus, Jürgen joined the company in 2020. He has led procurement across all Airbus divisions, built strong supplier partnerships, and developed procurement processes and tools across the organisation.
Jürgen, 53, began his career at BMW in 1998, holding key positions in Information Services, Motorcycles Purchasing, Quality Management, Supplier Network, and Cost Engineering. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
