Volatus Aerospace has announced a teaming and operations service agreement with DroneUp, a technology provider in the drone industry.
The partnership will allow Volatus to drive a unified commercial offering for common carrier cargo services across North America, leveraging next generation drone technologies and regulatory approvals, says an official release from DroneUp.
"This alliance enhances Volatus's robust cargo capabilities, following its merger with Drone Delivery Canada, by integrating DroneUp’s commercial operating approval in the USA and their advanced technology solutions including:
*A certified cargo drone equipped with a winch delivery system, complementing Volatus' Canary delivery drone.
*A two-way locker system for autonomous package pickup and delivery. The locker system is climate-controlled and fully secured; and
*An end-to-end proprietary traffic management system."
The partnership aims to streamline drone-based cargo delivery services across North America, utilising larger drones for beyond visual line of sight operations to enhance service reach and efficiency, the release added.
"Volatus Aerospace is distinguished not just by its operational excellence, achieving over 10,000 remotely operated flights, but also by its profound commercial aviation expertise," says Tom Walker, CEO, DroneUp. "Holding a Canadian air carrier licence with authority for dangerous goods and possessing multiple special operating approvals, Volatus is exceptionally positioned to lead the logistics and cargo delivery sectors in this exciting new partnership."
Glen Lynch, CEO, Volatus Aerospace adds: "DroneUp brings a wealth of expertise and operating experience with its advanced package delivery technologies and its status as a licensed U.S. air carrier. With their strong track record in urban delivery scenarios, DroneUp provides critical technologies and operational approvals that complement our own capabilities at Volatus. This synergy is pivotal for our strategy to enhance and expand our service offerings across North America."
