Skyports Drone Services, the leading Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) infrastructure developer and Korean drone technology company, Marine Drone Tech (MDT) formed a joint venture (JV) entity named Skyports Drone Services Korea at the Korea Drone Show in Busan.

Skyports Drone Services Korea, would be focused on providing customized drone solutions that address connectivity, productivity, and safety. Skyports Drone Services Korea is ready to fulfill the demands of the market and bring its experience to the forefront of the drone sector, with a growing need for new technology in the country.

Local branch offices have also been established in Busan and Yeosu, in line with Skyports' calibrated development objectives, to better support its on-ground partners and clients in both the AAM infrastructure and drone services segments.

Alex Brown, Director, Skyports Drone Services said, “Korea is a market that is well-known for its forward-thinking and innovative technology ecosystem. Our partnership with MDT brings together two market leaders and will see us rapidly scale up drone operations across Korea. Expanding on our work in Singapore, our focus will be ship-to-shore operations in the maritime sector. We will be bringing the best of our global offering across delivery and monitoring drone services to Korea, improving transport service levels, reducing costs and ultimately improving lives for communities all around Korea.”

Hwang Eui-Cheol, Chief Executive Officer, Marine Drone Tech, said, “MDT is proud to join forces with Skyports and bring our expertise in drone technology to the table. Together, we will be able to offer customers a complete solution that will address a broad range of challenges in multiple industries. Our complementary expertise makes Skyports Drone Services Korea a formidable force, and we are excited to work together to bring cutting-edge drone solutions to our home market.”

The initial goal of the JV Co is to establish operations in Yeosu and Busan, with a major concentration on marine ship-to-shore deliveries. Skyports Drone Services made its market debut in 2022 after completing a successful Proof of Concept (PoC) for cross-island drone deliveries done Beyond Visible Line of Sight (BVLOS).

Skyports' Japan office opened in October 2022, followed by the Korea offices that opened this month, as the firm increases its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region. The decision follows the company's strong success over the last year in expanding its AAM infrastructure projects and drone delivery operations with local partners, enterprises, and authorities.
