At air cargo Europe 2025, Libin Chacko Kurian spoke with Mohsen Ahmad, CEO of the Logistics District at Dubai South, about the future of cargo logistics in the region. Mohsen shared insights into how Dubai South is strategically positioning itself for cargo growth in the coming years.

The journey began in 2006, when Dubai South was launched as part of a 145-square-kilometre masterplan centred around Al Maktoum International Airport. The airport is now home to all major freighter operations—including Emirates SkyCargo—and is poised to handle up to 12 million tonnes of cargo annually.

One of the standout features of this ecosystem is the seamless multimodal connectivity it offers. Thanks to a direct link with DP World’s Jebel Ali Port. Within Dubai South lies EZDubai, a purpose-built e-commerce zone. It already hosts global giants like Amazon and regional leaders such as Noon and FirstCry, along with a range of last-mile delivery providers.

Meanwhile, the bonded forwarding zone, equipped with fully integrated digital customs processes, is streamlining air cargo logistics like never before. Looking ahead, the immediate goal is clear: attract more cargo volume between now and 2030–32 to fully utilise the rapidly expanding infrastructure.

Tune in to hear how Mohsen Ahmad and his team are transforming Dubai South.
