TAPA truck parking network grows 150% across Europe amid theft rise
TAPA expands truck parking sites 150% across Europe as rising cargo thefts drive demand for secure and visible parking networks

The Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) has reported a more than 150% year-on-year increase in truck parking locations under its Parking Security Requirements (PSR) Standard, now covering 17 countries across Europe.
The PSR Standard, developed by manufacturers, insurers, and logistics service providers, is designed to improve the safety and security of drivers, cargo, and vehicles. It enables parking operators to demonstrate their security credentials while offering a database for transport and logistics companies to identify safer parking locations.
The growth reflects increasing participation from Parking Place Operators across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, who are aligning with TAPA’s industry-led security standards. The PSR Standard complements TAPA’s other global standards for facilities, trucking, and cybersecurity.
TAPA EMEA’s parking database now includes around 230 sites across countries including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. These sites, which include both TAPA-certified locations and those signed under the Parking Place Declaration (PPD), collectively provide approximately 20,000 truck parking spaces.
The expansion is also supported by partnerships with SNAP, a digital mobility ecosystem for transport fleets and drivers, and TRAVIS Road Services, Europe’s largest truck parking network. In February, Moto Hospitality, the UK’s largest motorway service operator, joined TAPA’s PPD, covering 44 locations nationwide.
The increase in secure parking infrastructure comes amid rising cargo crime across the region. Over the two years to March 2026, TAPA EMEA’s Intelligence System recorded 39,422 freight theft incidents across 50 countries. Of the incidents where loss values were reported, total losses reached €1,159,730,723, equating to an average of €1,586,498 worth of goods targeted every 24 hours. Major thefts involving losses of €100,000 or more recorded an average loss of €984,705.
TAPA said the PSR Standard also supports its wider Parking & Awareness campaign, which aims to enhance driver safety and supply chain security. As part of this initiative, the association plans to provide around 50,000 free ‘Security & Awareness Driver Training’ courses to its member companies in 2026.
Thorsten Neumann, President and CEO of TAPA EMEA, said the growth reflects two key developments: the need to improve visibility of available parking spaces as well as their safety and security, and the increasing value placed by industry stakeholders on a unified parking network driven by manufacturers and logistics providers.
He added that TAPA is expanding its engagement with parking operators across EMEA to grow its network and improve visibility of parking locations for its members. The association continues to validate each site before inclusion in its database, with the aim of supporting operators in meeting customer requirements and enhancing security standards.
