EASP AIR BV and Ostend-Bruges Airport signed a Letter of Intent in early August 2025 to develop a new hangar and office complex at the airport. The project, covering more than 4,900 square metres on Apron 2, will replace existing outdated structures and include two hangars, each with a three-storey office tower.

The facilities will serve as the operational base for EASP AIR’s DO328 Maritime Patrol Aircraft and provide comprehensive maintenance and logistics support.

The hangars will offer secure parking and maintenance capabilities, with space to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Bombardier Global 7500 during scheduled operations. EASP AIR’s partner JetSupport will deliver maintenance support for business jets and regional military training aircraft, including the Pilatus PC-7 and PC-21.

The site will also feature bonded warehousing, secure storage areas, and a dedicated shipments department to strengthen logistical operations. Office space will be shared by EASP AIR NL/UK, JetSupport, and existing airport tenants.

“With this project, we are taking a significant step towards the renewal and modernisation of our airport,” said Nathan De Valck, CEO of Ostend-Bruges Airport. “We aim to achieve sustainable growth by investing in multiple strategic pillars.”

Pieter Voeten, CEO of EASP AIR, said the choice of Ostend was deliberate. “We recognise the strong ambitions of Ostend-Bruges Airport, which align perfectly with our own growth strategy. Its strategic location and infrastructure make it the ideal base for our Special Mission Expertise Centre.”

The Special Mission Expertise Centre will focus on aviation operations with societal relevance, including coast guard activities, aerial firefighting, and disaster response support. The location allows EASP AIR to serve end-users such as the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX).

The partnership is also expected to generate employment and training opportunities. De Valck said, “By investing not only in passenger and cargo flights but also in MRO activities (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul), we are creating additional employment opportunities in West Flanders and enhancing the innovative and specialised character of our airport.”
