WestJet Cargo has announced a significant expansion of its Calgary to Seoul (Incheon International Airport) service, doubling its weekly frequencies from three to six flights. This move, starting from the week of May 19, 2025, and continuing until October 13, 2025, is in response to growing market demand for cargo and passenger transport between Canada and South Korea.

The expanded service will continue to operate with WestJet’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner, offering a robust weekly cargo capacity of approximately 130 tonnes and 480 cubic meters. This increase in frequency and capacity demonstrates WestJet Cargo’s strong commitment to providing efficient, reliable solutions for businesses across both regions.

Kirsten de Bruijn, Executive Vice-President, Cargo at WestJet, emphasized the strategic importance of the expansion. “Doubling our frequencies is a testament to our commitment to strengthening connections between Canada and South Korea. We’re proud to enhance flexibility and capacity, supporting businesses in navigating a dynamic global trade environment,” she said.

Julius Mooney, Commercial Director, Cargo at WestJet, highlighted that the decision to expand was market-driven. He noted that the additional flights would offer greater opportunities for seamless imports and exports, ultimately empowering businesses in both Canada and South Korea.

This service expansion aligns with the first anniversary of the Calgary-Seoul route, which launched on May 17, 2024. Over the past year, the route has played a critical role in fostering stronger economic ties between the two countries, while also supporting increased trade and tourism.

The expanded service marks a key step in WestJet Cargo’s operations and supports Calgary’s development as a hub for intercontinental trade. Improved connectivity with Asia is expected to facilitate trade growth and offer more opportunities for businesses across both markets.
