Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a SATS company, is expanding its E-commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling (EFFH) services at Frankfurt Airport in Germany after signing a long-term lease on two warehouse facilities starting in January 2026.

The expansion aims to increase capacity for freight forwarding, trucking, and e-commerce companies as freight volumes in Frankfurt grew 6.2% in 2024 and continued to rise in early 2025. WFS will operate two warehouses and two office buildings on a 24,000 m² site in Cargo City South, equipped with ULD handling systems and volume and dimension scanners to handle up to 100,000 tonnes annually.

Marc Claesen, SVP Northern Europe & Africa at WFS, said, “As a leading air cargo hub, Frankfurt is a focal point for global freight forwarders as well as for large e-commerce shippers serving the German and European markets. Forwarders and e-commerce shippers value the efficiency, fewer touchpoints, and faster throughput for all involved parties that our EFFH solutions provide, and we see strong growth potential in Frankfurt.”

The facilities will support truck shuttle services between first-line facilities and forwarders’ warehouses within Cargo City South and serve international drivers, including those in WFS’s European road feeder network. WFS already operates EFFH services in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Liege, Madrid, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and at 12 airports across France, including Paris CDG.

EFFH services include making freight ready for carriage, capturing weight and measurements, crating, repacking, security screening, consolidation, shipment labelling, and transportation between forwarders and handling agents. The services also cover import deconsolidation, sorting, customs preparation, and further transportation by road.
