Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has signed an agreement to acquire OIA Global in its largest-ever investment, a deal that will strengthen its presence in key markets and place it among the world’s top 20 freight forwarders.

OIA Global, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, provides end-to-end supply chain and logistics solutions. Founded in 1988, the company has more than 1,200 employees across over 60 offices in more than 30 countries.

The acquisition will strengthen SGL’s presence in the United States and other strategically important markets while expanding its range of supply chain services. The combined business will offer customers access to a broader global network and a wider range of solutions to manage increasingly complex supply chains.

OIA Global’s services include freight forwarding, customs brokerage, contract logistics, project logistics, fourth-party logistics (4PL), packaging design and materials management. Its diversified business model and expertise in these areas will complement SGL’s existing capabilities beyond traditional freight forwarding.

OIA Global reported revenue of approximately $780 million in 2025.

The companies also share a customer-focused and entrepreneurial approach, with an emphasis on people. According to SGL, both organisations have some of the highest net promoter scores (NPS) and customer satisfaction levels in the industry.

“The acquisition of OIA Global marks a significant milestone for Scan Global Logistics. As our largest investment to date, it will place us among the world’s top 20 freight forwarders, strengthen our position in key markets, and expand our capabilities across the supply chain,” said Allan Melgaard, global chief executive officer of SGL.

He added that the companies would build a stronger platform for future growth by bringing together OIA Global’s employees and experienced leadership team with SGL.

Jeffery Barrie, chief executive officer of OIA Global, said SGL’s approach to business and its scale made it the right partner for the company. He highlighted their shared focus on customer relationships, entrepreneurial thinking and empowered local teams.

The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Both companies will continue to operate independently until the acquisition is completed, which is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
