FedEx Dataworks, Stripe partner to expand SMB financing
A strategic partnership will combine logistics data and financial infrastructure to expand financing access for SMBs, while adding more than 50 payment methods to FedEx checkouts globally.
FedEx Dataworks and Stripe have entered into a long-term strategic collaboration to reduce friction in global commerce and expand financing access for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
Under the partnership, the companies plan to combine data from FedEx’s global logistics network with Stripe’s financial infrastructure. The first joint solution is expected to launch in early 2027 and aims to help tens of thousands of logistics-heavy SMBs gain access to financing based on their operational performance.
Traditional lending models often rely on bank statements and credit scores, which may not fully reflect a business’s supply chain activity. Through the collaboration, FedEx Dataworks’ supply chain intelligence, including shipment activity, inventory movement, and fulfilment performance, will help Stripe Capital inform financing assessments.
The companies said these real-time operational signals could enable faster evaluation, approval and deployment of tailored funding. Separately, FedEx will add Stripe as a payment-processing option, giving customers access to more than 50 additional payment methods at checkout.
Vishal Talwar, executive vice president, chief digital and information officer of FedEx Corp., and president of FedEx Dataworks, said, “Every day, FedEx helps move more than $2 trillion in global commerce, giving us unique visibility into how businesses operate. Our focus at Dataworks is to leverage that intelligence by building solutions that create value for customers and help make supply chains smarter. This collaboration is an important step in laying the foundation for future innovations across the global economy.”
John Collison, co-founder and president of Stripe, said, “FedEx and Stripe power the physical and digital foundations of global trade. Together, we can turn the operational momentum of a small business, like shipping a thousand packages a week, into access to growth finance through Stripe Capital.”
FedEx will also partner with Stripe to broaden payment options for customers worldwide, adding more than 50 payment methods to its checkout process. The expanded range of local payment options is expected to reduce checkout friction and allow customers to pay through their preferred methods.
The collaboration marks the start of a long-term strategic partnership between FedEx Dataworks and Stripe, combining FedEx’s logistics intelligence with Stripe’s financial infrastructure. The companies plan to develop further and scale these capabilities to support businesses as global trade and supply chains become increasingly complex.
Stripe provides programmable financial infrastructure to businesses worldwide, enabling millions of companies to accept online and in-person payments, integrate financial services, develop customised revenue models and build more profitable operations.
