The Rhenus Group has announced three key leadership appointments in its Air & Ocean division, aimed at boosting global growth and regional integration. Joachim Hanssen becomes CEO for Asia Pacific (APAC) from 1 August 2025, Alberto Martinez will lead the Europe (EU) region from 1 October 2025, and Renee Toh will take over as Vice President Global Ocean Freight on 25 September 2025.
These changes are part of a wider transformation within the Air & Ocean division. Rhenus aims to better align leadership with changing market conditions and strengthen its ability to offer customer-focused logistics services across major global markets.
Joachim Hanssen, who has been with Rhenus for over 20 years, now leads the APAC region, including Greater China, Central Asia and Turkey. His experience in expanding Rhenus' footprint in Asia and focus on regional growth is expected to support the company’s efforts to unify and scale its operations in the region.
Alberto Martinez, currently serving as Vice President Global Ocean Freight, will take charge of the European market, one of the company's most vital regions. He will succeed Markus Lingohr, who is set to retire in 2026. A smooth transition is already underway. Alberto has played a key role in developing Rhenus’ global ocean freight strategy and growing trade lanes and partnerships.
Taking over Alberto's current position, Renee Toh will become Vice President Global Ocean Freight. She brings over 20 years of experience in ocean freight and trade management. Before joining Rhenus, she was Head of Global Ocean Freight Procurement at CEVA Logistics. Her expertise in procurement and carrier partnerships will help strengthen Rhenus' global freight services.
These appointments reflect Rhenus Group’s focus on building a strong, agile and customer-driven organisation. According to Jan Harnisch, Member of the Board – Air & Ocean, the new leaders will help Rhenus respond better to market changes, build deeper customer ties, and explore new regional opportunities.
The Rhenus Group is one of the world’s leading logistics companies, with a turnover of EUR 8.2 billion. It employs 41,000 people at 1,330 sites across more than 70 countries, offering services including transport, warehousing, customs clearance and value-added solutions.
