GEODIS AirSmart debuts at Munich to cut freight missions
GEODIS launches AirSmart, offering a sustainable solution for reducing air freight emissions.;
GEODIS has launched a new low-carbon air freight solution, GEODIS AirSmart, at the transport logistic trade fair in Munich, aiming to set a new standard in sustainable air logistics. The innovation is designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with air freight by utilizing aircraft performance metrics, smarter routing, and real-time analytics.
GEODIS AirSmart represents a strategic move in the logistics major’s decarbonization roadmap, aligning with its pledge to reduce absolute emissions from air freight by 25% by 2030. By selecting energy-efficient aircraft and leveraging advanced flight data and analytics, GEODIS says it can cut emissions while improving overall cargo performance.
The launch underscores growing pressure on the logistics industry to balance performance with sustainability, particularly in high-emission modes like air freight. With AirSmart, GEODIS is not only optimizing its own operations but also enabling its customers to track and achieve their climate goals. The solution’s carbon savings are available directly through GEODIS’s digital platforms, offering transparent and actionable environmental insights.
“It’s smart, it’s sustainable, and it’s a game-changer,” said Henri Le Gouis, EVP, Global Freight Forwarding at GEODIS. “GEODIS AirSmart is our response to the rising demand for environmentally responsible freight services. It’s not just about moving goods faster—it’s about moving them better, with a clear commitment to decarbonization.”
The freight forwarding industry has been gradually pivoting toward greener operations, but GEODIS positions AirSmart as a differentiator, an integrated service that combines emission intelligence with operational efficiency. In addition to customer benefits, the solution is expected to help GEODIS meet regulatory pressures and ESG targets.
Looking ahead, GEODIS also announced plans to replicate the AirSmart model in ocean freight, developing a complementary maritime solution based on similar principles of emissions optimization and route performance.
GEODIS, a global logistics player operating in nearly 170 countries with a workforce of 50,000, reported revenues of €11.3 billion in 2024. As part of the SNCF Group, the company continues to invest in innovation across its four core business lines: Global Freight Forwarding, Global Contract Logistics, Distribution & Express Transport, and European Road Network.
AirSmart is GEODIS’s latest step in transforming its freight forwarding division into a sustainability-driven partner for businesses worldwide.
