DHL eCommerce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Venipak Group, expanding its operations into Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The acquisition will give DHL a fully owned presence in the Baltic region by combining Venipak's local delivery infrastructure with DHL's global network. Subject to regulatory approvals, Venipak will become part of DHL eCommerce.
Venipak is one of the largest independent parcel operators in the Baltics, operating around 800 parcel lockers, an extensive pick-up point network and delivery services for both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) customers. The acquisition provides DHL eCommerce with an established domestic delivery network in a region where out-of-home delivery and e-commerce continue to grow.
Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL eCommerce, said the Baltic states are among Europe's fastest-growing e-commerce markets and Venipak brings strong local market expertise, an established brand, experienced teams and well-developed infrastructure. He added that the acquisition supports DHL's strategy to expand its parcel delivery network across Europe while supporting Venipak's future growth.
Venipak owner Nerijus Raudonis said the transaction reflects the company's growth over the years and will help strengthen its position in the Baltic region. He said the partnership with DHL will create more opportunities for customers to grow their businesses in domestic and international markets, while also providing broader career opportunities for employees.
Following completion of the transaction and the required approvals, Venipak will gradually become part of DHL Group's global logistics network while continuing to operate under its existing brand. The current management team and employees will remain in their roles.
DHL plans to invest in Venipak's workforce, expand its parcel locker network, increase sorting capacity at key terminals and further strengthen its IT infrastructure. Venipak customers will also gain access to DHL eCommerce's global network, including parcel delivery and returns services, as well as more than 165,000 out-of-home points.
Venipak CEO Andrius Ladauskas said the partnership with DHL will preserve the company's existing strengths while giving customers access to a larger international logistics network, more shipping and returns options, and greater opportunities to expand into global markets.
