Dronamics enters Japan with Asia Air Survey investment
The partnership will focus on deploying drone technology for aerial surveying, disaster prevention and civil protection in Japan and in overseas markets.
Dronamics has announced the entry into the Japanese market with a strategic investment from Asia Air Survey and the establishment of a local subsidiary, Dronamics Japan Holdings. The move marks the company’s expansion into Asia and signals a focus on deploying unmanned aerial systems for geospatial and civil applications.
Asia Air Survey, a listed geospatial information company, has invested in Dronamics through its corporate venture capital arm. The partnership will focus on deploying drone technology for aerial surveying, disaster prevention and civil protection in Japan and in overseas markets.
Founded in 1954, Asia Air Survey has developed geospatial capabilities across areas such as disaster management, environmental consulting, forestry, city planning and infrastructure assessment. The company stated that integrating Dronamics’ unmanned aerial systems could address cost, risk and operational challenges while supporting its service portfolio.
Dronamics develops and operates a multi-role drone platform known as Black Swan. The aircraft is designed for logistics, mapping and civil protection missions, with a payload capacity of 350 kg and a range of 2,500 km. The company positions the platform for applications across cargo transport and public safety operations.
“By combining the technologies and expertise of our two companies, we believe there is significant potential for the development of new services. We look forward to future business collaboration and joint growth between our organisations," says Shingo Urakawa, Board member of Asia Air Survey.
“The strategic investment by Asia Air Survey, a leading company in aerial surveying, is a testament to the technology we have designed, built and tested repeatedly. Unmanned systems will power the new industrial age, and our large, long-endurance drones are unrivalled not only in Europe but in Asia-Pacific as well. The Japanese market alone presents a multi-billion dollar opportunity for cargo, disaster prevention and relief and civil protection missions of Black Swan drones, and we're excited to establish our presence here with partners like Asia Air Survey,” says Svilen Rangelov, Co-Founder and CEO of Dronamics.
The partnership reflects a shift towards integrating unmanned systems into geospatial and infrastructure monitoring workflows. It also indicates increasing collaboration between drone operators and geospatial firms as applications expand beyond logistics into disaster response and environmental monitoring.
