Vietnam Airlines boosts transpacific cargo with ECS
Vietnam Airlines has named ECS Group its US cargo GSSA, strengthening transpacific connectivity and supporting growing Vietnam-US trade.
Vietnam Airlines has appointed ECS Group as its cargo general sales and service agent (GSSA) for the United States, strengthening its transpacific cargo network and supporting the airline's long-term international cargo growth strategy.
The partnership combines Vietnam Airlines Cargo's expanding services with ECS Group's commercial expertise, nationwide sales network, and digital capabilities to drive cargo growth between Vietnam and North America. The collaboration aims to maximise revenue opportunities, enhance service offerings, and provide customers with more efficient access to evolving global supply chains.
Under the agreement, ECS Group will manage Vietnam Airlines' online cargo operations at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) while developing strategic interline solutions linking the United States with key Asian gateways, particularly South Korea. The expanded network is expected to offer customers greater flexibility and improved connectivity across Asia.
As trade between Vietnam and the United States continues to grow, Vietnam Airlines Cargo expects to benefit from rising demand driven by manufacturing diversification, e-commerce expansion, and increasing exports of high-value goods. The carrier transports a broad range of cargo, including electronics, semiconductors, automotive components, pharmaceuticals, perishables, and e-commerce shipments.
ECS Group will oversee cargo sales, customer development, capacity optimisation, operational supervision, and the promotion of both general and specialised cargo services across the US market. Customers will also gain access to the company's digital ecosystem and CargoTech solutions, designed to improve shipment visibility, operational efficiency, and commercial performance.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies in other international markets, enabling them to leverage proven strategies while addressing opportunities in the United States.
Jean Ceccaldi, Chief Executive Officer of ECS Group, said, “Vietnam has become one of the most important growth engines in global trade and Vietnam Airlines Cargo is exceptionally well-positioned to benefit from that momentum. By combining our powerful sales network, digital expertise, and operational capabilities with the airline’s expanding cargo offering, we are creating a platform for sustained growth in the United States market. This partnership reflects our shared confidence in the long-term potential of transpacific trade and our commitment to delivering greater value for customers.”
Both companies expect continued growth in air cargo demand, supported by expanding e-commerce, shifting manufacturing networks across Asia, and Vietnam's increasing role as a global manufacturing and export hub.
