Qatar Cargo begins Doha-Katowice freighter service

Qatar Airways Cargo has launched a scheduled freighter service between Doha and Katowice Airport, marking the first arrival of the airline’s Boeing 777F at the Polish airport on July 17, 2026.

The new connection will operate twice weekly until the end of the Summer 2026 timetable season on October 24, 2026. One weekly rotation will operate directly between Doha and Katowice, while the second will follow a Doha–Budapest–Katowice–Doha routing.

The Boeing 777F, one of the largest twin-engine freighters in commercial service, can transport more than 100 tonnes of cargo per flight. The launch provides businesses and logistics operators in Poland and Central Europe with direct access to Qatar Airways Cargo’s global network through its Doha hub.

Artur Tomasik, President of the Management Board of Gornoslaskie Towarzystwo Lotnicze S.A., described the launch as a major milestone for the growth of the cargo segment at Katowice Airport. He said the partnership with Qatar Airways Cargo strengthens the airport’s position on the logistics map of Central Europe and demonstrates its ability to meet the operational, quality, and safety standards required by leading global carriers.

Katowice Airport handled 28,356 tonnes of freight in the first half of 2026, an increase of 6,402 tonnes, or 29 percent, compared with the same period last year. Airport officials expect cargo volumes to exceed 50,000 tonnes in 2026, with a long-term target of surpassing 100,000 tonnes annually by the end of the decade.

The airport’s 12,000-square-metre cargo terminal and unrestricted 24/7 operations allow it to accommodate several wide-body freighters simultaneously, supporting the expansion of scheduled cargo services.

Qatar Airways Cargo operates a global network of more than 60 freighter destinations and 160 passenger destinations, with its Doha hub serving as a key link between Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
