Magma Aviation launches tailored CMS for air cargo operations
The new system centralises commercial, financial and operational data to improve efficiency, visibility and internal coordination.;
Magma Aviation has completed the rollout of its digital transformation strategy with the launch of a fully customised Cargo Management System (CMS) designed specifically for air cargo commercial operations. The company said the new system is built to meet the operational needs of the air cargo industry and to support its goal of delivering a seamless experience for customers.
The customised CMS brings Magma Aviation’s commercial, financial and operational data into a single, connected system. The company said this addresses the fragmentation seen across many freighter airlines, where multiple spreadsheets and disconnected systems often lead to duplicated work, data inconsistencies and internal misalignment.
By creating one central source of information, Magma Aviation said teams across the organisation can now work with greater clarity, accuracy and real-time visibility. The system allows departments to coordinate more effectively and ensures that decisions are based on consistent data.
Paul Hoatson, Magma Aviation’s Head of Network Planning & Alliances, said the customised CMS supports the company’s customer-focused approach. He said the system helps teams work seamlessly together while reflecting the level of service quality offered to customers.
Magma Aviation said air cargo operations require high levels of speed, accuracy and data consistency, yet parts of the industry continue to rely on manual spreadsheets. The company found that off-the-shelf CMS solutions did not provide the depth or integration required for its operational model, leading it to develop a system tailored to its specific needs.
Following the internal rollout, the CMS has also been recognised by an industry partner. In partnership with Forward Momentum, Magma Aviation has licensed the system for third-party use, extending its benefits to organisations that manage their own freighter capacity without holding an air operator certificate.
Barry Zigner, Chief Executive Officer of Forward Momentum, said the partnership enables freighter companies to improve their operational potential through a system designed for their business and capable of growing as they scale.
Magma Aviation said the CMS will continue to support its growth ambitions while also benefiting partner organisations. The system will undergo further development, with planned enhancements including artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to strengthen operational efficiency and decision-making.
The company described the customised CMS as a long-term investment in its digital support systems at a time when automation and collaboration are increasingly important across the industry. Magma Aviation said it remains focused on improving customer experience by building tools that match its operational standards and future growth ambitions.
