Lufthansa Cargo partners with IndiGo on Dhaka–LA cargo route
IndiGo CarGo will operate a dedicated A321F from Dhaka (DAC) via Kolkata (CCU) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), carrying freight bound for the U.S.;
Lufthansa Cargo has announced a new cooperation with IndiGo CarGo on its transpacific freighter service from Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles.
The German cargo carrier mentioned in a LinkedIn post that, in a unique arrangement that began last weekend, IndiGo CarGo will operate a dedicated A321 freighter from Dhaka (DAC) via Kolkata (CCU) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), carrying freight bound for the U.S. This cargo will then be transported onward on Lufthansa Cargo’s transpacific freighter service from Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles (LAX).
It mentioned that the full routing from Dhaka to Los Angeles is bookable via IndiGo CarGo, while Lufthansa Cargo continues to offer capacity on the Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles sector through its own booking channels.
Lufthansa Cargo operates a fleet of 16 freighters, comprising 12 Boeing 777 freighters and four Airbus A321 freighters. The carrier recently launched a new weekly service between Frankfurt and the Lebanese capital, Beirut, using its Airbus A321 freighter for the first time on this route.
Lufthansa Cargo has also initiated operations through its newly established European hub in Rome, under a strategic partnership with ITA Airways.
IndiGo CarGo is operating three Airbus A321-200 converted freighters, with a fourth on order. IndiGo’s overall fleet comprises over 400 aircraft, primarily from the Airbus A320 family. In addition, the airline is currently operating a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, wet-leased from Norwegian low-cost long-haul carrier Norse Atlantic Airways. This aircraft is one of six IndiGo has wet-leased from Norse.
It recently launched nonstop services from Mumbai to the European cities of Manchester and Amsterdam, operating three times a week. The Boeing 787-9 being operated is providing a significant boost to the airline’s cargo capacity, particularly in terms of bellyhold freight.
IndiGo already has 60 Airbus A350-900s on order, which are set to join its fleet from 2027 onwards.
The airline also plans to expand further into Europe, with Copenhagen and London expected to be added to its network by mid-October this year.
