IAT Leasing acquires 10 A330F aircraft leased to Amazon Air

IAT Leasing acquires 10 A330F freighters leased to Amazon Air, backed by Blue Owl and financed by MUFG

Update: 2026-03-18 08:26 GMT

IAT Leasing Limited has announced the acquisition of a portfolio of 10 Airbus A330F aircraft, which are currently on lease to Amazon Air and operated by Alaska Airlines. The aircraft were purchased from funds managed by Altavair on behalf of funds managed by Blue Owl Capital, with financing provided by MUFG. IAT will also provide ongoing lease administration and asset management services.

The transaction marks a key development for the Dublin-based lessor, as it adds dedicated widebody freighter aircraft to its serviced portfolio. It also establishes a new relationship with Amazon while strengthening existing ties with Alaska Airlines and expanding its portfolio with Blue Owl Capital.

The deal follows an announcement made in January 2026 that IAT and Blue Owl would enter the LessorCare+ programme with Rolls-Royce, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the parties and supporting the underwriting of the aircraft involved in the transaction.

Martin Browne, Chief Executive Officer of IAT, described the deal as a transformative step for the company. He said that acquiring ten A330 converted freighters leased to Amazon Air allows IAT to enter a new asset class and positions it as a major global lessor of freighter aircraft. He added that the transaction strengthens the scale and diversification of the company’s platform and reinforces its reputation as a reliable trading partner. Browne also acknowledged the continued support of Blue Owl, highlighted the strengthened relationship with Alaska Airlines, and expressed optimism about working with Amazon Air. He noted that adopting Rolls-Royce’s LessorCare+ programme further supports the company’s recent growth.

Daniel Rosato, Managing Director within Alternative Credit at Blue Owl, said the company is pleased to undertake the transaction with IAT. He stated that building on its experience with passenger A330 aircraft, the acquisition represents an expansion into freighter aircraft, which are expected to support the cargo market over the long term. He also welcomed the addition of a major airline to its portfolio.

Tye Holmes, Head of Aviation Origination – EMEA at MUFG, said the bank is proud to support IAT and Blue Owl in the fleet acquisition. He noted that the structured financing was delivered within a tight timeline, reflecting strong collaboration among all parties, and added that MUFG looks forward to supporting their continued growth.
