FACL secures general cargo handling contract at Cologne Bonn

Fiege Air Cargo Logistics (FACL), a subsidiary of the Greven-based Fiege Group, has announced an expansion of its service portfolio through a new partnership with Cologne Bonn Airport. Starting 1 January 2026, the company will assume full responsibility for all general air cargo handling at the Cologne Bonn Airport Cargo Center.
As it transitions from managing carrier-specific operations to overseeing the entire general cargo infrastructure of a major airport for the first time. To lead the new facility, FACL has appointed Christian Biesecke, a seasoned logistics expert who previously managed cargo operations at the Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports.
Benjamin Looser, Managing Director of Fiege Air Cargo Logistics said, "After overseeing our customer operations in Frankfurt and Zurich, we are now taking on for the first time the entire General Cargo Handling at an airport."
FACL has managed physical cargo handling at the Lufthansa Cargo Center in Frankfurt for over five years and recently became the mail handling partner for Swiss WorldCargo at Zurich Airport at the start of 2025.
Additionally, the Fiege subsidiary BCL Buck CargoLogistik provides ground handling services for major clients such as Qatar Airways and Frankfurt Cargo Services.
