CHAMP Cargosystems has named Manuel Galindo Medrano as its new chief executive officer, effective 8 January 2026, as the company positions itself for the next phase of digital development in air cargo and logistics.
The appointment comes as airlines, handlers, and forwarders increase their reliance on core cargo management systems to support capacity planning, regulatory compliance, and data exchange across global supply chains. CHAMP said Medrano will focus on strengthening partnerships across the cargo ecosystem while delivering value to customers that depend on its platforms for daily operational continuity.
Medrano brings experience across air cargo digitalisation, freight technology, and platform-based business models. He previously founded WebCargo, later acquired by Freightos. He later held senior commercial roles at Freightos, where he worked on pricing, distribution, and revenue models linked to air freight booking and connectivity. His background also includes advisory work with logistics and B2B technology companies, as well as board-level involvement in air cargo industry bodies.
CHAMP said the leadership transition builds on the strategy set under outgoing chief executive Christopher McDermott, who led the company through a period of technology alignment with evolving industry requirements and customer expectations.
The company indicated that its focus will remain on system reliability, integration with airline and handler workflows, and long-term collaboration with cargo stakeholders as digital infrastructure becomes central to air freight operations.
