Bridges Air Cargo has announced the induction of its first Embraer ERJ-190 converted freighter, marking what the airline described as a global first in cargo aviation.

According to the airline, the addition of the ERJ-190F will enhance its operational capacity by offering greater efficiency, flexibility, and reliability in serving customers. The aircraft is the first in a planned fleet expansion, with a second ERJ-190 freighter expected to join soon. The company also stated the move reflects its strategy to build a modern, adaptable fleet designed to meet evolving cargo demand across Europe and beyond.

Earlier in June this year, Embraer, together with lessor Regional One, announced Bridges Air Cargo as the launch customer for its new passenger-to-freighter (P2F) E190F conversion programme. The Brazilian aircraft maker also mentioned in June 2025 that the first of two converted aircraft is expected to enter service with Bridges in the third quarter of 2025.

Embraer has since expanded its agreement with Regional One, doubling the original order by adding two more P2F conversions. Regional One, which initially placed its order in 2022, confirmed Bridges Air Cargo as the launch operator of the E190F.

According to an official release by the Brazilian aircraft maker, converted E-Jets provide over 40% more cargo volume than large turboprops, with triple their range, and offer up to 30% lower operating costs compared to larger narrowbodies. With combined main deck and lower deck space, the maximum structural payload of the E190F reaches 13,500 kg.

Bridges Air Cargo operates under Bridges Worldwide, a global provider of logistics, courier, and express solutions, working with partners such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS to support their time-critical networks.
