The converted aircraft will be capable of transporting up to 98 tonnes of cargo over 5,000 nautical miles.;
AviaAM Leasing, a member of Avia Solutions Group, is set to complete the conversion of a Boeing 777-300ER from passenger to freighter configuration by the end of 2025. The project, conducted in partnership with Mammoth Freighters LLC, is among the first of its kind globally. The conversion is taking place in the United States and is expected to mark a significant step in meeting the rising demand for cargo aircraft.
AviaAM Leasing, which specialises in aircraft leasing and trading services, sees the conversion as part of its strategy to expand its cargo leasing portfolio. Jonas Janukėnas, CEO of Avia Solutions Group, said, “This type of conversion of a popular passenger aircraft is a historic achievement for AviaAM Leasing. Boeing foresees air cargo operators will need more than 2,600 freighters over the next two decades to keep up with increasing global freight traffic. P2F conversions are one way to meet this growing demand.”
Brian McCarthy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Mammoth Freighters LLC, added, “Once converted, the Boeing 777-300ERMF will be one of the most fuel-efficient long-range freighters available. Its impressive payload capacity and range make it an attractive option for cargo operators worldwide.”
According to Tadas Goberis, CEO of AviaAM Leasing, this will be the world’s first aircraft of this type to undergo such a transformation. “This represents the world's first aircraft of this type – a prototype that marks a significant milestone in our company's growth. We plan to convert several additional aircraft of this model in the near future. This project will help us strengthen our position in the cargo aircraft leasing sector, as these converted aircraft will enable logistics companies to expand their capacity,” he said.
The converted aircraft will be capable of transporting up to 98 tonnes of cargo over 5,000 nautical miles, with a cargo volume of 819 cubic metres. Originally designed to carry nearly 400 passengers, the Boeing 777-300ER is being repurposed to serve long-haul air freight needs, including transatlantic operations.
AviaAM Leasing has completed over 150 aircraft transactions and more than 50 conversion and refurbishment projects. The company ranks among the top 50 in the global aircraft leasing market and is the launch customer for the 777-300ERMF freighter conversion.
