The logistics venture of Capital A Berhad (formerly known as Air Asia Group Berhad), Teleport, has delivered 15.3 million parcels in the second quarter of 2024, a 215% increase from the same quarter last year. In terms of year-to-date, Teleport has already surpassed its 2023 delivery volume by delivering over 30 million parcels in just the first half of 2024.

According to the Capital A Q2 2024 operating results, Teleport delivered over 60,000 tonnes during the second quarter of 2024, a 33% increase from the same period last year. Talking about the significant milestones, Teleport mentioned that 71% of overall shipments were delivered the next day. The company stated that within 60,000 tonnes of cargo they have shipped, 400 tonnes of it is human hair.

The Southeast Asian air logistics provider has stated that while its capacity has increased by 11%, the capacity utilisation rate continues to improve from 13% to 15%, reflecting a healthy volume, revenue pipeline and better operating efficiency.

With regard to where Teleport sees maximum demand in 2024's Q2, Teleport's CEO Pete Chareonwongsak informed The STAT Trade Times that he has seen a huge demand from SME (small and medium-sized enterprises) in ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries. ASEAN is a regional intergovernmental organisation that includes countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, among others. "I'm Seeing it everywhere. Increasingly from China into ASEAN too," added Chareonwongsak.

Pete Chareonwongsak, CEO at Teleport, while sharing the companys future plans at Teleports media briefing conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on May 2024.

Regarding plans for the third quarter of 2024, Chareonwongsak mentioned that they are looking to partner with many more airlines. Recent updates show that in May 2024, the Malaysia-based integrated logistics solution provider signed a partnership agreement with Pakistan International Airlines with an aim to improve connections between Southeast Asia (SEA) and the Middle East. Moreover, in April this year, Teleport announced it would manage the exclusive commercial rights of Vietjet Air Cargo's New Delhi - Ho Chi Minh City belly space. With such strategic partnerships, Teleport aims to deliver two million parcels by 2025.

Some of Teleport's recent partnerships also include its collaboration with Etihad Cargo. In June 2024 at Air Cargo China, Teleport and Etihad Cargo formed a partnership to increase cargo capacity within Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Teleport will operate a freighter from Ho Chi Minh City to Kuala Lumpur, boosting Etihad Cargo’s capacity to meet Vietnam’s growing demand. This collaboration enables Teleport’s customers to transport e-commerce parcels and general cargo from Kuala Lumpur to the Middle East and other global destinations via Etihad Cargo’s network.

Last month, Teleport also partnered with Turkish Cargo to expand their network and fleet capacity. The agreement will enable Teleport to utilise Turkish Cargo's network beyond Southeast Asia, making it easier to transport e-commerce volumes via leisure hubs to key trade destinations in the Middle East, Europe, the US, and Africa. Additionally, the partnership will establish a joint freighter program focused on manufacturing cities in Southeast Asia, improving connections beyond Türkiye and increasing Turkish Cargo's fleet capacity.

"Teleport continued to show growth momentum across its Cargo and Solutions segments in the second quarter, contributing to better service optimisation through the dynamic utilisation of capacity from its dedicated freighters and growing partnerships with third-party airlines. With better optimisation of its services, Teleport continues to remain asset-light. At the same time, it expands its network reach and improves flexibility in capacity planning, strengthening how it serves both its cargo and ecommerce customers," stated Capital A Berhad in an official release.
