UNICEF readies emergency shipments for Venezuela
Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, UNICEF has mobilised emergency medical, water, and shelter supplies to provide urgent assistance.

UNICEF has begun preparing emergency relief supplies for children affected by the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24. The aid is being assembled at the organisation's global supply and logistics hub in Copenhagen for rapid deployment to impacted areas.
The emergency shipment includes first-aid kits, newborn care supplies, water purification and storage equipment to provide access to safe drinking water, and tents to establish child-friendly spaces and essential service points.
The relief operation forms part of UNICEF's emergency response to support children and families affected by the disaster, ensuring access to critical healthcare, safe water, and protective services during the humanitarian response.
Catherine Russell, Executive Director at UNICEF said, “As the scale of the damage becomes clearer, children's safety, protection, and well-being must remain at the center of the response.”
Around 3.9 million children live in areas affected by the 7.5- and 7.2-magnitude earthquakes that hit Venezuela on June 24. The disaster has put thousands of children and their families at risk, increasing the need for urgent humanitarian support, including food, safe water, healthcare, and shelter.
