TechEagle drone delivers India Post mail in Kutch, Gujarat

The Indian Postal Department, in collaboration with TechEagle, a leading drone delivery startup, successfully concluded a pilot project to deliver mail with the help of drones in the Kutch district of Gujarat at 5X speed compared to surface transportation.

"As the country was celebrating Bharat Drone Mahotsav on May 27, 2022, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, TechEagle's flagship drone Vertiplane X3 delivered India Post's mail from Habay village in Bhuj taluka to Ner village in Bhachau taluka of Kutch district in Gujarat," says Vikram Singh Meena, Founder & CEO, TechEagle. "The drone covered a total aerial distance of 46 km in less than 30 minutes which is nearly one-fifth of the time compared to road transportation methods. The project was quite remarkable for the drone delivery revolution in the country as it was the longest drone delivery in a single flight and that too in a harsh weather environment with a wind speed of more than 30 km/hr.

Devusinh Chauhan, Minister of State for Gujarat's Ministry of Communications, added: "As the country celebrated the #DroneMahotsav2022, the Department of Posts successfully conducted a pilot test to deliver parcels through drones in Kutch, Gujarat.

"The pilot project was aimed at testing the operational and technical feasibility of drone deliveries in the region along with commercial scalability. With the success of this pilot project, it will now be possible to make postal deliveries by drones in the future."

The project was done using TechEagle's Hybrid e-VTOL Drone Vertiplane X3, which is a vertical take- off and landing drone that takes off and lands vertically like a helicopter from a small area of 5mX5m, and can cover a longer distance of up to 100 km at a top speed of up to 120 km/h.
