Swissport Cargo Services Austria has achieved Transported Asset Protection Association Facility Security Requirements - Class C (TAPA FSR-C) certification from the Transported Asset Protection Association in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (TAPA) EMEA, marking a significant achievement for its air cargo handling operations at Vienna International Airport (VIE) in Fischamend. This certification reinforces Swissport's reputation as a reliable partner for the handling of high-value and theft-sensitive goods, mentions the official release.

TAPA, is a consortium of security professionals and related business partners predominantly hailing from high technology and high-value industries. The organisation is dedicated to addressing emerging security threats that are common within the supply chains of high-value industries.

"The TAPA certification not only validates Swissport Cargo Services GmbH’s adherence to industry-leading security protocols but also solidifies its position as a premier provider of freight services in Austria,” says Andreas Ottendorf, Station Manager for Vienna and Graz.

Swissport further plans to certify the whole site of Fischamend including all tenants for the TAPA FSR-A certification.

Earlier, Swissport inaugurated an 8,000 sqm air cargo warehouse in Fischamend in 2021. This new facility, connected to Swissport’s on-airport cargo center at Vienna International Airport by a dedicated electric truck, has enabled Swissport to expand its cargo activities and enhance its presence in forwarder handling. It is anticipated that this development will enable Swissport to handle 120,000 tonnes of cargo in 2024.
