Swissport appoints Detlef Trefzger as Non-Executive Director
Trefzger previously served as the CEO of Kuehne+Nagel from March 2013 to July 2022.
Swissport International has appointed Detlef Trefzger as a Non-Executive Director on its Board of Directors. Trefzger previously served as the CEO of Kuehne+Nagel from March 2013 to July 2022, during which the company became the largest transport and logistics service provider globally. He played a key role in driving investments in new technologies and digitalisation, as well as promoting sustainable transport and logistics solutions. Additionally, Trefzger was instrumental in the acquisition of Apex International, which notably enhanced Kuehne+Nagel's airfreight operations in Asia, according to an official release from Swissport.
Swissport’s Board of Directors oversees the establishment of strategic priorities and ensures that corporate governance best practices are followed to support its worldwide operations.
Before becoming CEO of Kuehne+Nagel, Trefzger held several senior roles at DB Schenker AG, including Executive Vice President of Global Contract Logistics and Supply Chain Management, mentions the official release.
“In addition to his new role at Swissport, Trefzger serves as a member of the Board of Directors for easyJet plc (UK), Accelleron Industries AG (Switzerland), Swiss Prime Site AG (Switzerland), and PSA International (Singapore). He is also an operating advisor to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, a private investment firm, as well as the owner and founder of advisory firm Larix Equity.”
“We are delighted to welcome Detlef Trefzger to our Board of Directors,” says David Siegel, Chairman of the Board of Swissport International AG. “His exceptional track record and deep industry expertise will be invaluable as we continue to expand our global footprint and deliver exceptional value to our clients.”
Trefzger’s appointment follows the recent inclusion of Janina Kugel, former Managing Board member and Chief Human Resources Officer at Siemens AG, and Julian Diaz Gonzalez, who previously served as CEO of Dufry for many years, to the Swissport Board of Directors in July 2024, the release added.
